I was given this hundred dollar bill by the cashier at a casino. There is no hole in bill. Edge of suit overlaps blue security strip. How can I find out if it is worth more than $100.00 Thank you to anyone who can help me. I am new to collecting.

Picture is too out of focus to tell much but
probably just slightly out of register.
Could you post a photo of the complete note.

Almost forgot to the CCF

. ... to the Community!

Just making a guess from the current picture the note has PPD (Post Printing Damage) that occurred after it left the BEP.

Anyway, if that is the only area affected on the note the "error" adds minimal value.

Others may have a different opinion.

To give you the help you need we need photos that show the complete note...both sides. The photos need to be properly oriented and cropped.

I hope these are better. The blue security strip, from what I read, is woven into the bill, not printed onto it? However it is done, the strip is under the two edges of the suit and as you can see by the pic of the back of the bill, there is no tears or holes in bill. If you zoom in you can see that the paper on each side of strip is lifted, still attached to bill, and can be laid down over top of strip.

The security strip has been a problem on these bills for a long time.

I compared it to another 2009A C-note I have (see photo) and mine has 1/4" breaks in the strip at intervals of ~1/2" and 1". On mine there is a break of 1/4" inch just to the left of the gold inkwell over Ben's left shoulder. I don't see enough C-notes to know if the break pattern in the strip is uniform across all notes.

It almost looks like the piece that is peeled on your note is about the same size ....1/4".... that is not on my note and is in the spot where a void should be. So, if that's the case it is a manufacturing defect.

Value? Who knows? 100$ is a lot to tie up in an error like this. I know Iwouldnt save it.

It looks like the paper ripped over the security thread.

Thank you to all who replied. I appreciate the feed back. OS there someone I could contact at the treasury just to double check. Yes it appears the paper tore but it did so quite neatly and did not tear through the back of the bill, it looks like its layered? Anyway, thank you again. Beverly.
