At my local coin shop today, I was offered my pick of some silver quarters for the scrapper. What did I expect, some well-worn Ag- G type coins? You know what I'm talking about. What did I get, three rolls of mixed 50's and 60's BU (not just ms 60, but 65 type pieces) For the low low price of 2.50 a coin I picked up a 54s,55,55d,56,56d,57,57d,58d,59,59d,60,60d,62,62d,64,64d. ALMOST ALL BLAST WHITE. I was tickled pink. If I had more than 40 bucks in my pocket I'd have bought all three rolls!!

Wow...that looks nice! I'm glad you rescued those. Sadly, a lot of coins went to melt. I remember some Victorian era Sovereigns that went that way too.

Amazing(especially if they all look like the picture)that someone would be scrapping good looking coins when precious metals took the slide we observed this week. I would borrow 40 bucks from someone and go back; if my memmory serves me quarter dollars Red Book at about that price in EF.

Well Done! It's a shame you didn't have more money on you. Silver quarters are awfully nice.

Nice grab! Loosing such nicely kept quarters to the melting pot would have been a shame!

Yeah, too often what people claim as "junk silver", really ought to be looked at a little closer......or at least by someone willing to rescue it !....

Egads man you've struck silver! Your dealer done you right BQ. Many dealers, my boss included, are not selling junk silver at those prices. They have too much into them. The silver is out there but they don't want to sell at a loss. I've tossed some mighty fine coins into melt buckets at work including the occasional proof. Just can't afford them all.

Very nice finds! I think that 43(m) Shilling is valued around $20 in VF. It's the scarcer coin for that year. I find the other two interesting in that they represent rather notorious regimes. Once is obvious; the other of Leopold II is less known today. Conrad's book "Heart of Darkness" referred to that terrible business in Belgian Congo. Just some trivia--nice coins nonetheless.
