Not too sure if I'm posting in the right area but I had 2 questions, 1 is this penny worth being sent in to be graded or throw it back in the jar and 2 I heard one of the 1947 pennies were rare and I was wondering if someone could help me determine witch one mine would be. I found this in one of my jars I had laying around that I did not get a chance to sort through. I've always collected my pennies out of habit of not really caring to try to spend them so I have no clue where it originated from. Anyways thanks in advance guys. There are three varieties of the 1947 cent and none of them are rare. What you have is the 1947 Maple Leaf Blunt 7 variety. Unless they are in MS condition, the value is about the same for all 3 varieties.

Quote: What you have is the 1947 Maple Leaf Blunt 7 variety. Agree and grade VF20 at most.

Thank you for the speedy replies guys, would anyone be able to point me in the right direction on how to tell when a coin has been cleaned? I'm just wondering if there is any info on how to tell since I am new to actually looking at them I'm not quite sure what to look out for but there are a few online I was looking to purchase and I really dont want to end up buying ones that have been tampered with by some degree, I was always told to never clean coins. So I dont want any "cleaned" ones ending up in my collection.
