Found this during a Wheat cent search. Could this be an offset stamping? Thoughts?

Same. I am hardly an expert, but it is interesting.

Sory, but I think that this is the result of years of circulation wear and intentional Post Strike Damage ( PSD) Not an Off Center Strike. It's very out of round.

That's what I think. Both the left and right sides would show a shift if it was off center. The left sides are normal in these pics.

Looks like a former Encased Coin to me.

Thanks
I'll see what PCGS says after I send it in to be graded.

I say possibly, but the left side of the wheat stalks looks to be normal spacing from the rim. This is one I would like to hear Mr. Coop's opinion on. Maybe a struck out of collar or broadstrike? (I'm Not an expert!)

The fact it was out of round is part of the reason I stuck my neck out and said off center strike. This is a quote from the link I had posted:

Quote:
When a planchet isn't seated completely in the collar as the dies strike together, it will strike the coin's image off center. This will usually result in a coin that isn't perfectly round.

I agree with John1, it looks as if it were encapsulated. Possibly a necklace as one time.

IMHO, it looks like an off enter strike to me, which would have been struck out of collar.
(A misaligned die wouldn't be struck out of collar.)

I am in complete agreement with those who've concluded that this is a case of post-strike damage (most likely an Encased Cent). Sending it in to a grading service would be colossal waste of money.

If it were left in the holder, it would still have some value. Removing it, turns it into just a damaged coin.
