Another amazing find from the wheat bag! I`m ecstatic to have this one in my collection! The CherryPickers Guide lists 3 doubled eyes, and this is one of the nicer ones IMO. I`m not sure of how rare this one is but the doubling has exceptional eye appeal. Thanks for looking!

The nose thing looks like retooling to me.

@John1-Possibly, but the CherryPickers Guide lists it as part of doubling. Still, you could be right. The eye is still nicely doubled though.

E&V- thanks! I'm really happy to add this one to my collection.

Looks more like Machine Doubling to me. The channeling trench on the die back then didn't reduce the nose area.

Looking further into this it is a DDO-008

Thanks Mr. Coop. Let me see if I can get this straight- the nose is machine doubled and not channeled because the Die didn't reduce the nose area? I thought Machine Doubling would be reduced in size? Sorry if I'm getting this wrong I've never heard of channeling until now.

The nose is not from retooling. The nose is actually doubled from the Doubled Die. Look on vareityvista.com. They note it on there. http://www.varietyvista.com/01a%20L...2PDDO008.htm

Yes thanks E&V that's what I initially thought, but the responses from Mr. Coop and John1 has me thinking it may not have been.

I added some information on my other post. I did a little more looking into it and it is a doubled die. It just looks suspicious at first. The location and all. I guess this is the only one I've seen so far that affected that area. (Which is usually always Machine Doubling) We all learn to add new information that we spot that changes our knowledge of coins.

Thanks Mr. Coop and GC! If the doubling of the eye wasn't there, I would have probably thought the nose was just MD and tossed it back.
