Anyone else have a circulated set that you get down to only a couple coins and you look FOREVER for them. Just wondering what some peoples elusive coin(s)
Mine is:
Penny: 1973-S
I have probably searched $150 worth of Pennies looking for that one penny and keeping all the wheat pennies along the way.

Once I get 50 posts I'm going to try trade for it.

Yep and with a little over 3 million circulated 73-S compared to over 3 billion on the 73-D is one of the reasons its hard to find.

Must be a coincidence. The 1973 S was the last coin I needed for my Lincoln Memorial collection. This past weekend, I searched a huge jar of pennies my aunt had. I finally found it after about 1200 pennies. Good Luck finding that coin.

I don't know where I am post wise to qualify for trade/sale but if I'm there send me a SASE and a note about what you want and I'll give you one. Nothing terrific, AU at least; there are plenty of "S" pennies in California.

While I can appreciate the desire to help ,,you need 6 posts still to Buy sell or trade on the forum , the OP needs many more !Please be patient and let the rules work !

Thanks Metalman

1922 plain for me. The grade that I want is a little out of my budget. I am just waiting for the right coin at the right time. Good Luck with your 73S. When you do hit 50 posts get hooked up with Thad. He, imo, is very fair and dependable

For modern circulated sets, everything I am working on is at least "current" in that what I need are some of the more recent dates, and all from the Denver Mint (me being on the East Coast). They just take a while to get here, but they do.

Other than the State Qtr. Series and the Pres. Dollars.......I haven't started a "Ultra Modern" collection of "anything".
Of course, those would be much easier to complete over Classics, but I just don't get thrilled by a 1998 D Lincoln Cent or a 2001 Jefferson nickel, or a 2006 dime......I know they can fill a hole........but .......well......

A 1969 cent. I see all kind of great 69 D's but can't find a plain 69 to save my soul!

Mine was the 1920D Lincoln Cent. I have 10 completed sets of Lincolns. They are in order of grades from all MS to whatever. I spent many, many, many years looking for the 20D in MS and just not anywhere. I go to 3 or 4 coin shows a month and seveal coin stores and all say the same thing, "oh that shouldn't be hard to find". Yeah, right but they never have one. Finally after all those years a dealer at a coin show said "Hey, guess what? I have two of those 20D's" Finally. I was starting to think there was no such thing.
