I found a 1991p quarter that was unusually dark in color and was not reeded. It really doesn't have much wear but the quality of the metal hurts the ability of the strike to show through. Was wondering if anyone has any advice on what this is. Pictures are taken with my phone if any particular close up is needed I can use the microscope.
Thank you so much.

That is a normal coin that either circulation has removed the reeds on the edge or they were flattened down. The copper layer is still barely showing. Normal coin.

I've taken a comparison photo between another regular worn quarter not in terrible condition but it should show the difference in coloring and texture. I would almost say it was spray painted if I saw signs of it. I've seen the term annealing? Which shows similar colors.

I think a normal coin as well, but I also think that it has been through the wars. (aggressive environmental or circulation damage)
