Poll Question
I love sellers with a good sense of humor, even when it's inadvertent.  This 1776 something or other was listed with absolutely zero information along with a bunch of other really low grade silver coins. Among the information not provided was a denomination, weight, or diameter -- only a date. At least there were two photos! Just for fun, before this coin shows up in my mailbox, I thought I'd let CCF take a shot at seeing if they can determine a denomination based only on these photos.    (If you're really brave, how about a guess as to Mexico City, Potosi, or some other mint?)

It is definitely colonial (the pillars are visible on the sides of the shield) so it is not a Spanish peninsular issue.
The denomination is far harder to guess but from the proportions of the castle (very tiny door) and the level of wear it is most likely a 1/2 or 1R. I would guess 1R if forced to make a choice. A 4R or 8R would be unlikely simply due to the loss of metal and the associated loss of value. The small coins circulated long after they were below theoretical weight limits but not the larger ones.
The date seems to use a 6 font that I would associate with a Mexico City one reale during Charles III's reign. The two 7's actually look different (upper serif) and the leg taper is not adequate for anything over 1R. The 1 would be of more value if the serif was clear but it resembles a worn arc as seen on Mo number.

After being lost in the mail for over three weeks, this coin actually showed up today. It's pretty slick, but it is, in fact, a 2 Reales and looks like Mexico City.
Rings silver, weight is 84 grains / 5.4 grams, diameter a shade under 28mm. I don't have XRF but it looks fairly legitimate. :)

paralyse Like I said - good test. That is a very badly worn 2R it is a shade over 20% light due to wear.
I guess that makes it an early 20 cent piece.

It's almost "love token slick" and worn to the point that the details have almost no relief.
I paid 3 bucks for it and given the 1776 date I'm perfectly fine with that :P
Too bad it wasn't an 8 Reales.
