Ok, so today a bought a few silver dollars in a "package" deal and when I had a some time to really dig into them and look at and study each one I ran across my 1st counterfeit coin. It was 1846 Seated Liberty "CC". So being the newby I am, I took a couple of pics (with my phone) and sent them to 2 guys that I truly trust. Sure enough I had my 1st FAKE. So I called the guy and told him about the coin, he was genuinely sorry that he had sold it to me and told me that he would gladly refund my money or give me another coin whichever I preferred. I do believe the seller honestly didn't realize HE even had a fake coin (because he bought it too). None the less I have had a sickening feeling in my gut because of what happened. I've read about all the counterfeiting that's going on but when you get one yourself it just makes me sick. Anyway just thought I'd share my experience..keep your eyes open.

): Pictures please!
): Chances are pretty good that if one of the coins was fake the others just might be, too!

Some people collect counterfeits. I don't.

umh I would say they only collect contemporary counterfeits/forgeries (rare/limited), and any modern fakes are more for research and education purposes.
