Well its not really a denarius
But it looks like one !
And its not really of Claudius either ......
Its Nero !
Probably not even all that rare

Some who are familiar with me know of my aversion to silver
And of my preference for Roman Imperials ...... especially Julio-Claudians
Pure impulse purchase (seemed like a good deal !)

AR Drachm Caesarea Cappadocia
Obv. NERO CLAVD DIVI CLAVD F CAESAR AVG GERM
Laureate bust of Nero right
Rv. DIVOS CLAVD AVGVST GERMANIC PATER AVG
Laureate bust of Claudius right
3.21 grams 16-8mm
AD 63-4
RIC 186 BMC 418

Three things that throw me off in a single coin - heads on both sides, the legend is facing out of the coin and the coin is roman but the denomination is not! Very neat though, getting two nicely cut Julio-Claudian busts on one piece.
