I don't know, since it looks like there is more than one ding on the obverse.

I thought that BU means MS, but without giving it an exact grade number.

Would this one be AU, or just below that?

Thanks for replying, both Pauldog and John1. This came in a "Roll of Brilliant Uncirculated nickels" so I thought I might upload it and see what everyone thought! I can upload the pics of the rolls if needed. I only have about 30 rolls of these BU nickels.

Like John1 said, I think of BU as MS-60. In other words, on the low end of uncirculated. You can always be lucky and cherry pick a high MS example.

Traditionally it has meant MS up to about 63. Most would change to Gem BU at 64/65

This is why I am present on this forum, to hear new terminology, specifically the correct terminology regarding coins, grading of coins, and all things coin related!
