1998 Quarter Vending Machine Damage Or Error

I'm new to collecting and cant tell of this is an error or damage from a vending machine.

Not an error, it has just taken a hit that flattened the letters.
If it was a vending machine damage, you would see damage
around the whole circumference, not just in one area.

I think the shape of the I and the T could be the result of vending (not wrapping) machine damage.

@trl567, first welcome to CCF. Second, best practice is to start a new thread for each new coin. That helps us find things faster when we go back and search for specific things. Certainly not a big deal, but hopefully you can do this moving forward.

With specific regard to your '63-D cent, I do see a bunch of damage to the rim. I don't think that this was from a vending machine, but I can't offer a reasonable alternate scenario. It doesn't look like a vice, because the rim dents are not 180 degrees opposite each other. In any case, this cent is only worth face value.

Your Quarter is normal. Your Cent is showing heavy Post Strike Damage ( PSD). Both are spendable and are both worth face value.
