Does this mean that if the set gets to travel to India or New Zealand or Australia(for example) that it gets to stay in that country providing we have more than two members there, for the two month period as well and then they get to do an intrnational draw so that it moves on to another country?

I think we are overcomplicating things and getting away from the original purpose. Everyone who signed up was aware that they may have to ship internationally. Get two boxes put all the names in one box. Once a month draw a name send/Forward the coins to the person named and put the name in box two. When box one is empty start again.

Nohope has pretty much summed up what we need to do. In regards to Metalmans post I would say that idea guarantees us the coins MUST leave country every three months which is a good thing. As it is now, say with an open draw every month, the coins could remain in any one country for a long time. It would be strictly with the luck of the draw. Honestly, because we outnumber many of the other countries with members it could be years before some of them see this set. I do like the idea of limiting any one country from holding the set more than 3 months and now I am leaning on a drawing which would fill out the destinations for up to a year at a time. Bobby and Susan with the help of their children could draw 12 names and those would be the first 12 recipients this year. Then those 12 names could be arranged (by Susan)to force the set to travel out of any given country every 3 months. We would know who the 12 recipients were right up front and the plans for the set. In the event some of them pass the set on quicker than a 3 to 4 week period we could always draw the next 12 names when the set reaches the 12th person on the original list. Sounds like a plan to me!

I do not like the idea of drawing 12 names in advance. It should be up to the holder of the item to conduct a draw. This allows for excitment every month. I also have no problem in the coins staying in one country for an extended period as long as every member who wants to participate has equal chance of getting it. That is what the spirit of the draw was all about in the first place.

Bigfella I like the surprise part as well. How ever we do this if absolutely FINE with me. I just want to iron this out as quickly as possible. I can live with the current holder drawing a name every 3 to 4 weeks so I suggest we do just that and see where the luck of the draw takes the set. If it doesn't leave any one country within 3 months we can re-evaluate what we are doing. I just want miles and smiles! And, at this time, with no more members than we have signed up I do think the set will travel to quite a few countries pretty darn quickly. All we really would need to do is keep a "sticky" with a list of eligible members in line for the set at any given time and I think Susan and Bobby could probably be persuaded into doing that! Then all we would have to do is write down the names, or corresponding number on the list, and draw one! All in favor say AYE! All opposed, say NAY! Somebody count those votes please!

The best way to do it I think is for the holder of the giveaway to call for nominations and select from the group that nomintated. You may have people who want to participate but can not in a given month due to work, other committments or postage funds in the given month. This way only people who seriously want to participate in a given month are considered. In the Aussie forum...doing it this way there is never a lack of nominees. The extra effort required my weed out thse not serious about our endeavour.

I wanted to bump this thread back to the front page and also wanted to announce the holder is under construction for this set and ALL the coins are here except the ones from Australia (coming from OZ?) and Great Britain (coming out of Texas)which I assume are on their way. Should have things wrapped up here pretty quickly but can't seal the coins in until I have them all! Really looking forward to the posts as we follow this set of coins around the world! Racking up the miles and smiles! This will be fun!
Anyone have any idea what kind of card I need to be looking for or can someone create something appropriate on their computer? Need to get it done and get it to me as these coins aren't going anywhere until I can sign MY name on something!

Well kidcollector you tell us? Is the mail safe? I have found in many countries it is best to ship REGISTERED MAIL and only by REGISTERED MAIL. It will at take a few days longer and may cost more but there is a 99.9% chance of the mail being delivered as every hand that touches that package must SIGN for it when it is in their possession so, basically the package can be tracked EVERY second of the way. Also REGISTERED MAIL MUST be stored in a safe at night or locked up when in most forms of transport. If regular air mail is delivered safely to Kuwait then there is no problem. It is important that NO ONE ever uses surface mail in an overseas shipment as it could take weeks and weeks to get there and packages will lie on a dock somewhere waiting for the next available ship to be loaded. Air Mail or REGISTERED MAIL is the ONLY way to go!

The Perpetual Give A Way Set is nearing completion and I think keeping the threads on the first page is a way for all newcomers to this site to see what we have undertaken, as a group, and to promote more interests in forum activities. Back to page one!

Renal said in a different thread... " don't want to be a spoilsport but can't help asking myself; how will you handle trust issues. I mean, how do we know that anyone wont keep the set for himself :) any kind of deposit for insurance purposes or sth like that in mind?" My concern is along the same line. What if the coins disappear on the way to me, or after I send them to the next member. What would happen to my good name. I would have to change it to "Mud". The Australian Forum never had a problem and the giveaway is still making its rounds. Australia has a good mail service. But the problems with some international mail make this a risk to your reputation, and is my concern.

This is definitely a very real concern. I have to hope that everyone who participates will be honest and forward the package to other members. Obviously, things do get lost in the mail and, if this happens, the member who sent it should not be blamed. Perhaps if we always used delivery confirmation or some form of shipment that has a tracking number, this could be avoided?
