Sorry, IDK the proper terminology for these "coins", but was surprised to find them in this set that I just happened to open yesterday!

No. It was not. They had variations of them from both Denver and Philadelphia. Believe they are called a 'mint token'.

These tokens are in mint sets of the 1980s and 1990s. I have over a thousand to dump. I handed several out in change recently. And found out two nights ago that coinstar machines reject them.

I wonder why? They are struck on copper plated zinc cent planchets. Weight is right, size is right, composition is right. Not sure how they would tell them from regular Zincolns.

It would be interesting to see if a vending machine that takes small dollars would take that 1982 token.

Your interest to see was taken tonight. I dropped 5 tokens in and it took them. Several nights ago at another machine they were repeatedly rejected.
