I had this coin graded by ICCS years ago but think it is nicer than the grade I was given. I know from past that ICCS doesn't grade brown or toned coins proper if they are not red you will receive a low mint state grade. What would your grade be for this coin, I'll give the ICCS grade in a few days. Test your skills, after looking at the picture the mark on Queens face and directly behind her are marks on the plastic So here is the coin I'm talking about its a 1953 sf toned, it has one light little nick in the Queens hair hardly noticeable. It has a couple very light scratches hardly visible with 10 power loupe on the obverse and the reverse has no marks at all, blemish free and shows luster both sides around the edges Edited by papeldog 04/16/2019 4:13 pm

It is frustrating with ICCS, with how they deal with "toned" (lustrous brown patina) bronze coins. PCGS would probably call that one MS-64+ Brown. That aside, the 1953 SF is extremely hard to find in full red. There are some beautiful red wine coloured examples out there. I got lucky about 10 years ago and bought an ICCS MS-65 Red from Hugh Powell (it was not cheap). This past winter, it crossed into a PCGS holder, one of only four in that grade. https://www.PCGS.com/cert/35035467

Thank you to everyone for your grade opinions, it looks like most have agreed to what I thought it would have graded MS-64 and I was hoping for a MS-65. SHAFTA9a you were bang on with what ICCS has graded the coin. You must work for ICCS Lol I totally agree with you SPP-Ottawa it is frustrating the way ICCS treats toned coins. I have a few others that I felt were under grades by ICCS because of the colour but still very nice coins in Lustrous brown condition. I also have a couple of 1953 sf in MS-64 Red but like SPP has mentioned its very hard to find this coin in MS-65 red. Picture Happy hunting

Just as a comparison... try and guess what ICCS graded this coin as (and bosox thinks it is still under-graded in its current PCGS holder):

I'm going with ICCS graded it MS-62 and I would think PCGS would grade it MS-65 Brown. Its looks like a very nice mark free coin with a strong strike and great detail

ICCS graded that NFLD cent ICCS MS-62 Brown. PCGS graded it MS-64 Brown, and both the top 1c NFLD collectors in the PCGS Registry (Perth Collection and Uncommon Cents), think it is still undergraded...
