I've seen some "issues" with the coins offered on TV, but this one is just not right. What do you think?

Not sure about cleaning, but the scratch is a killer. Just a bullion coin, way overpriced.

Dont see anything that says cleaned from the pic but the scratch is obvious. Like frog said, its bullion... as its an easy date and those dont really up in price until they hit around MS63 or so.

Ive seen generic modern gold coins offered on tv, but not these. Interesting.

Agree with your consensus. As well as Coinfrog. Priced right for the ill informed late night shopper looking for an heirloom.

I found it odd that they would put up an example with an obvious scratch, since they claimed they had a number of these for sale. Hard to tell, but also looks like a cleaned XF/AU (tough to see on the screen capture). Earlier in the show they were saying that the first 5 cent coin made of nickel was made in 1883. I guess they never heard of Shield nickels. These guys never cease to amaze me.

I won't speculate on "cleaned, scratched, rubbed, polished," etc. with a pic like that. Who knows?
