The mintmark was punched into every working die, after die production, by hand. This is caused by a break in the die, called a die chip. Sometimes, it is called a "filled letter/number." It's not special as far as I know. And I tried to post full pictures of the coin yesterday but the forum app kept telling me the photo was too large no matter how far away from the Coin I took the picture and cropped it down. I will still try and post the obverse and reverse of the full coin. I appreciate you taking the time to looking this up for me. I just started collecting Morgan's a couple weeks ago and I don't know to much about them except what I've been able to learn in the past couple weeks. I will submit my pictures to the VAM forum. Normally I wouldn't want to spend the money but considering it's a possible VAM 6 I was thinking it would be worth it. Report this Post to the Staff
