Hi all and Happy Easter! A little while ago I found this Alaska State Quarter and I noticed that it had something weird on the reverse. It almost looks like there is something stuck on it or like a layer has been peeled off. I am still learning to spot things so if you could help and explain it to me I would appreciate it! Hope you all have a wonderful day!

A tiny piece of sticky stuck on tin foil wrap perhaps?

I thought so too... but it wouldn't come off or even budge at all!

Looks like gum wrapper foil. Acetone should remove it. John1

Follow John1's advice. Purchase 100% pure Acetone and dip your coin in it, inside a container. It should come off easily. And don't worry, it won't harm the coin at all. It's safe to use.

Or a thin layer of solder. If so it is PSD. (Post-Strike-Damage)

Ok thanks! I will give it a try and see if that works. When you say dip do you literally mean dip it? And for how long?

Vivian410, yes, dip it. I would leave it in there for a maximum of 2 hours.
