Kurt, thanks! I knew it had to be "somewhere", but not under my nose! Don't be at what I'm about to say. I have had a program called Mr Photo 1.5, for over three years. While usimng it last night, I clicked on "something, and it gave me a "touchup" panel. It took me an hour to find what I had accidently touched to make it do that. I can fet prescription glasses. I wonder if they make "prescription BRAINS" as well? My email just clicked......Some one must want to tell me where!

No prescription needed there!--I think you do quite well, despite your vision.

Over the last few weeks I went through 500 rolls of nickels ($1000 worth). I'm hoarding the pre-82's for melt value. Banks close and tellers go on break when they see me coming!

I kept notes each '$100 box' = 50 rolls, one line per roll. I put aside all pre-82's, USA nickels, 1970's and '12-siders', upgraded much of my collection, and checked every '57 for the bug tail, '64 for the XWL, '65 for the LB, and touched all '99's and '82's with a magnet. I must have checked over 300 '64's, then finally on Box 9 Roll 32 (after 17,280 nickels) I FOUND IT! I also got a '57 bug tail in Box 5 Roll 3. See pics below.

So to find two in one roll must be a million to one shot. Buy 649 tickets.

Here is what I got out of 500 rolls (apart from a lot of angry stares from tellers):
3509 pre-82's (35 lbs at $15/lb = $525), now I just have to wait for bullion prices to recover.
69 12-siders from '41-'62
1160 USA (one box of 50 rolls had 20 rolls of all USA nickels)
about 40 upgrades and new additions to my collection! I now have 1962-2008 2 of each year in EF-40 or better.
oldest found: 1937 (first year of the beaver)
magnetic 99's or 82's: none (no surprise here, but they do exist I think)
large bead 65's: none found in 20,000
value of 57 bugtail in F-12: $2.00
value of 64 XWL in VF-20: $20.00
other foreign coins: a 1964 Swiss 20 centime and a 1984 Netherlands 5 cent

Malibu thats great finds
As far as me finding them in one roll that is incorrect. I bought 200 face of .999 nickels and had 3 rolls of 1964's out of the 200 face and found 2 XWM!

sorry, I misread that thread. But finding 2 XWL in 4000 is still incredible. Yours look about the same grade as mine, so they're worth about $15-20 each. What I don't get is why someone would sell .999 nickels at face value when they're worth 2-3 times face in bullion. Is it that hard to find a foundry willing to buy small volumes?
