Hey folks! How are you all doing tonight? As the subject reads, I had some questions about the 1982-D Small Date Lincoln Penny's actual value, rarity, and if I possibly stumbled onto one.

Below are a few pictures of the penny in question. It looks like it meets the criteria for a small date Denver variety, but, that's wherein the real dilemma shows itself - even if it is a small date, are they actually as valuable as Youtube and Google like to paint them out to be?

It is a SD,but it looks like a zinc one...2.5 grams. The valuable one is copper...3.1 grams.

Agree that it is a Small Date but you will have to weigh it in able
to tell if it is the valuable one.
Use the weights supplied by John1 to tell you which you have.

Based on the bumpy texture, you can tell it's zinc even without weighing it.

You don't have to have a scale to weigh it . Just take a pre 1982 cent and make a balance beam out of a ruler. A teeter totter as it were.
