This one really threw me, It was sold by David Kahn Rare Coins as well so I took a chance. What would you grade it now?

I'm still at XF Details. I have a problem with net grading. This is harshly cleaned, no matter how you spin it. I wouldn't pay more then VF-25 money for it. If I paid that much. It has no eye appeal would be a sore in a collection. I HATE cleaned coins. Corrosion, ok, not preferable but ok. I like original coins. If they details becuase of their travels through history, it adds background. Some genius polishing a coin is just annoying.

Grapecollects, I understand what you are saying but you also have to look at why someone would buy this regardless of the condition of the coin. The die marriage of this coin is WB-11 EDS, which is an R6 for rarity. If someone collects R5 or higher in a series then you need to get whatever you can get, I do know of quite a few people that collect this way.

after taking a closer look at this coin. the hairlines on the obverse do not crossover the devices which leads me to believe someone heavily polished these dies. there is no way someone could clean this puppy like that without hitting those also

I see what you mean, but you would think that die polishing lines on the fields would wear off pretty quickly on a well worn coin like this.
