Just bought about 20 old Lincolns for 0.5 cents each, at a coin shop, had to soak them in acetone..they where bad.
This one has a lot of chips including the mint mark.
Im just not sure. Your input will be greatly appreciated.

That's damage, not an error. It's Post Strike Damage ( PSD).

I think what you are calling die chips are just accumulated
metal from numerous hits.

. IMO you paid a bit high. I buy common date 1940 - 1958 wheats at 3c each.
