Not sure why this one was getting no love, but I bought it for $1.25 plus shipping. Kinda on the low side for a nice early wheat. But obviously I wanted it for the RPM, which is a fairly rare RPM-002. This one fills a hole in my collection as I've never spotted one before and believe me I've looked at a lot of 1929-S coins.

The die markers for this variety are a die gouge along the rim above the L in LIBERTY and a small V-shaped set of die scratches inside 9 of the date.

It got no lovin' because of the carbon spots. Nice find though.

You're the expert and I'm sure this is good find. Personally, it's lost on me. And the reverse has obvious problems.

Carbon spots are there for the life of the coin and they continue to get worse with time. That is a tough RPM to see. It is probably it, but it is pretty weak even on the CONECA listing.

C'mon Coop, probably it? This thing is textbook with both die markers clearly visible and the secondary S is exactly as it should look with the mint mark in exactly the right position. Yes it's not terribly obvious, but there is no question as to what the RPM is. Not sure why the spots are of any concern at all. I'll take a minor flaw on an uncirculated coin anytime. In MS-60 Coppercoins puts this at $40, well above the average value of most RPMs. I am quite happy to have it.

I would rather have a fantastic variety with some minor spots and scratches, than have a MS coin with no variety. It's a nice coin and carbon spots aren't a big deal IMO. Especially when they are that small. Congrats TB!
