Daves Errors Pillar of the Community United States 1566 Posts	Posted 04/26/2019 3:19 pm Got this coin from a OBW Roll of 1969 S Coins, Looks like a T/S/U Die Clash On the RIM.. And by the looks of it the S might have a lil Doubling . The letters are Inset on the rim. Report this Post to the Staff

Daves Errors Pillar of the Community United States 1566 Posts	Posted 04/26/2019 4:09 pm This coin came from a BANK ROLL of 50 1969 S BU coins. I opened the Roll myself and this one was in the roll. Its NOT a Circulated coin. How can it be post strike.? Report this Post to the Staff

It's generally compression of another coin that presses the letters onto the rim and yes, I have found them in bank rolls. Odd, and I've even posted at least one such coin here myself, but I am convinced that it is all just a compression thing and has nothing to do with the minting process. Note that TRUST is impressed, and reversed (or is that mirrored?), sure signs of things happening after minting with the lettering coming from another coin post strike. Report this Post to the Staff
JimmyD Bedrock of the Community Canada 21620 Posts	Posted 04/26/2019 4:37 pm It is possible for this to happen at the mint but it would have been after the coin was ejected from the striking chamber. The fact that the letters extend beyond the rim tells you it happened after it was released from the collar. It is only an error if it happens during the striking of the coin so sorry to say PMD Report this Post to the Staff

The damage could have occurred inside or outside the Mint. But damage is damage, so it's not a minting error and it carries no value. Error coin writer and researcher. Report this Post to the Staff
