A few May releases are already available on RCM site: - Equality Special Wrap Loonie - $74.95 - Equality Coloured Version of circulation Loonie - $49.95 - Pure Silver 4 coin Fractional Set - Includes Kilo coin - Canadian Maple Masters - $3999.95 These coins will be available via advance notice in a few days. - Three Queen Victoria Themed coins to commemorate 200th Anniversary of Birth (1819-2019)- a Stamp Shaped Coin, a 5 oz coin and a Gold Coin - 5 oz Big Loonie - Coat of Arms - Zodiac Coin - A Tulip Coin - A St. Lawrence Seaway Coin - Two 40th Anniversary of Gold Maple Leaf coins - 1 silver and 1 gold And the highlight of the May releases: (My rep has already sent sent advance notice) - A "Dancing Diamond" coin. Officially called 2019 $20 Fine Silver Coin - Sparkle of the Heart. It's uniqueness is compared to last year's carousel coin. There is a diamond mounted within a box on the coin. Apparently there is some mechanism that allows the diamond to sparkle. $699.96 with 750 mintage. My rep say it may be a quick sell out. Finally, my rep has sent a special offer that expires May 6: Buy $300 or more, get a free collectors case. Buy $500 or more and get a free collectors case and $50 off. Thank you, Money Penney for info and description! With this low mintage of the coin, it hardly even go to the dealers. Probably it will be RCM's "the next thing".

I forgot about the monthly releases. Are people still buying directly from the RCM, or do you guys usually wait to buy it for 50% off on ebay (if you buy it at all). $700 for a one ounce silver coin with a dollar store ornament affixed to it? No thanks!

Or the person among 750 people on the Earth who have this coin, or not. I am absolutely not a fan of these, and will not pay CAD700 even for 1oz silver coin which I will like, but I can understand the buyers.

The $700 Diamond Coin is not even 1 oz. According to the advance notice, it is 20.6 G = .73 oz.

Google: "On the economics of diamonds, the biggest marketing scam in history orchestrated by the most successful cartel ever" I'll pass @ 100 mph. Modern diamonds are man-made and will become as cheap as RAM. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQXVya-HAOk

It'll be decades before diamonds are cheap, even if they can be made by man. The technology is still new and equipment is incredibly expensive. Real or man made, the diamond on this coin does not justify the price.

Saw the Victoria 5oz on Masters Club pre-release. To be honest, it is very similar to coins issued in the past. I am reminded of the 2013 coronation anniversary of Queen Elizabeth on the Reverse with what appears to be a painted decal on top of a Westminster Abbey engraving. The Obverse is similar to the 2017 10oz commemorating Confederation series with the two monarchs in cameo windows facing away from each other.
I get that Victoria is an important historical figure for Canada and I normally love the larger canvas that the 62mm coins offer but I feel this is derivative, overpriced and insufficiently compelling. I doubt that I will even wait for the reduced price at auction in 5 years.
The only audience I see for this are royal collectors or 5oz collectors needing to maintain a set as individually, there is nothing special about this coin that will draw anyone in and at $530 for a mintage of 1,000 there is unlikely to be a rarity factor. Maybe if they had a UFO in Westminster Abbey or put the two queens on a horse in a carousel...

Quote: Don't underestimate Queen Vicky Already awaiting stock This is why when picking stocks, always pick something that I don't I find the Vicky coin boring and derivative yet here it is... Awaiting stock. I received the notice from my rep this evening and was looking to get the free case... and now I know why a free case was offered... this has to be one of the most lack-luster months yet. The St Lawrence Seaway design is interesting with the chain rim, but the proof 40th anniversary maple. I actually prefer the bullion design with the 40 stamped on the Maple... but as I said before... Don't listen to me.

And something unique in that diamond coin. And don't forget the controversy regarding the Equality coin. There was no other coin in recent memory that had so much media coverage

Quote: Don't underestimate Queen Vicky Already awaiting stock Don't overestimate the coin either. My rep said they had access to only 350 QV coins. So that is why they sold out fast. That leaves plenty of stock in the hands of dealers. People pay too much attention to "awaiting stock" at the RCM. They should look at dealer stock levels to determine whether a coin is "hot" Right now, Canadian Coin & Currency has 71 of the QV coins available. Lots to go around. You should be able to get it for a discount soon.

There was no other coin in recent memory that had so much media coverage Sure tons of PC media coverage blanketing the landscape, despite which at $49.95 for 1/2oz silver this coin is readily available and not exactly flying off the shelves. Any news on RCM coin exchanges for the regular circulation coin? Cheers!
