Not sure about counterfeit but definitely cleaned and polished in some way.

I'd say fake, there's quite a bit of missing detail on that obverse.

The "vine" and leaf tops area diagonally left from the bottom curve of the C(ENTS) is incorrect.

Looks counterfeit, whizzed and polished. Pictures are so horrible but the gap above the nose looks to be there.

Is say counterfeit due to the edges and appearance of the date. I don't think seller is doing maliciously because his other listings are fine. It is possible the coin is genuine but I wouldn't buy it.

I agree: effigy of George V is 'mushy'. Need MUCH better pictures to consider to buy.
I have a confirmed fake silver Hong Hong 10 Cents with the same effigy, and it is just as 'mushy'.
OK if you want a fake coin, but it has to be bought at fake price. I have an extensive 'black' collection for my own education. That is why I can give good advice here.

Far too many collectors have black collections, this helps to fuel the market for fakes, and after the people who are educating themselves pass on what prevents these fakes from entering the market. I destroyed all mine six or seven years ago. If you look pics and markers are readily available online. No need for anyone to purchase them for their own edification.

with DBM. The Canadian Currency Museum has an extensive collection of contemporary counterfeit coins for additional study - Mike and I are now chatting about getting them a Chinese numismatic counterfeit reference collection.

When considering my doubt, at least I had the advantage of directly comparing the screen picture directly with the hand held known fake in my own collection. That gives me a much higher degree of confidence in the opinion that I have formed.

The NEED or WANT of the ONE appears to out weigh the need of the many.........again!
