I have somebody that is telling me they have a penny with nothin on either side. If it is real, what kind of price would you be looking at for this? I said probably $10 max, but I do not know for sure.

It is possible that it is a blank planchet. I dont think that they are very rare but certainly not common. As far as value goes, I just checked ebay and the few I saw were in the $2-5 range. With almost 8 billion cents made last year, it is easy to see how this occasionally happens.

It happens to the tune of at least 50,000 pieces annually, and they are actually one of the most common types of errors. Cent planchets are very common and bring $2-$5, but other types of planchets, especially Sac dollar and SBA dollar planchets are far less common and bring $50 or more.
