I'm back from JRTC and I finally got to see my new coin. There's a few minor rim dings, but it was slabbed as "problem free" by ICG. I think that might be the reason for the conservative grading. The details are very bold for the grade, but the blemishes on the rim are mild enough not to be considered a problem coin, but visible enough to lower the grade a level. Overall I'm pleased with the example when you consider how hard it is to find early copper without any issues.

The pictures are a bit speckled, I think there's something wrong with the settings. But here it is.

Cheers!

Beautiful coin! I just got a Dansco 7070 for Large Cents. I have always wanted to start a raw set of these. I really like the Large Cents. I have an 1801 and a 1800/1798 that I just picked up. They say if you stay in this hobby long enough, you will eventually become fond of the Large Cents. I now know what they meant!

What did ICG give it? My guess would be 25 or 30.

Very attractive reproduction. Or did they make them in zinc that year?

You mean because it isn't "this" color ?...........(this is one of mine)
1803-Large-Cent

If his "photography settings" or "lighting" isn't the reason for this "silver/zinc coloration, then you think this is counterfeit ?
OH ! NOOOOOO !....

Fooled the heck out of me. Wow. In hand, I probably would have thought different. The fact you said ICG, figured it was Gen.

I would think ICG would know a real coin, I was making
a roundabout comment that the color needed some tweaking.

Although I appreciate the sarcasm, the color is actually brown in hand. It was cracked out of an ICG, problem free slab.

Edit: I missed your last comment. Yeah, I'm going to try to take a better picture tomorrow.

Judging from your pics, it almost looks "thicker" than most other DBLC.

You guys are funny.

The pic does make it look slightly corroded or pitted though.
