Nice-looking coin with alloy impurities and what looks like a lamination on the chief's nose. Grade, about VF-25.

Buffalo nickels were long my favorite coin to collect. Many minor "error" coins exist in the series with laminated planchets being one variety of error that's often seen.

I used to enjoy assembling matched date/mm sets, those being matched according to the grade/wear on the coins. I excluded the pricey error coins like the 1918/7-D and the 1937-D three-legged variety.

When younger, I assembled "grading sets" for many different types of coins. They'd consist of solid grades, being one, each, in AG, VG, Fine, VF, XF, AU and BU. This helped me attain more consistency in grading. The Buffalo nickels are challenging in that some years/mints were poorly struck, evidencing mushy detail when new.

Someone used a Dremil on that one. Sad because it's a really nice strike. A filler coin until an unmolested one comes along. Welcome to the forum!
