I found a 1953 Wheat penny looks like its part steel sticks to a refrigerator magnet weighs 3.04 grams

Try the magnet on a 1943 cent and see if it sticks like your coin. If the coin was plated with steel or nickel, it would have an attraction. But on a 1943 steel cent jumps onto a magnet.
