1954-S-Woody-?-Out-Of-An-Uncirculated-Roll
1954-S-Woody-?-Out-Of-An-Uncirculated-Roll

Hi all!! I ran into an uncirculated roll of 1954 s pennies. There were 2 that look like this, several toned and a few rpm's. I cant seem to capture how gorgeous this coin really is. Its a very rich gold and yellow. Can anyone tell me if this is an error? If so,what would it be called? Can you explain to me how this happened? I dont even know what to search for on google to learn about it. Thank you so much for your help!

It sure looks like a Woody to me. Also called an Improper Alloy Mix.

Yes, that is exactly what they look like when shiny and new. Quite pretty but most folks actually prefer the wood look of brown coins and not the greenish hue of red coins.
Rest in Peace

I was thinking discolored from some sort of chemical cleaning wiped across the coin.(but than "from an unc. roll) Never seen a woody from the 50's era. But I'm not one to disagree with Tropicalbats. Nice.....Oh yea...
