Hey guys, I am trying to figure out a way to display some of my coin collections( primarily my Silver Eagle collection). I am wanting a way to display them that looks good.
I was thinking about looking for a shallow shadow box I can hang on the wall. Does anyone have any suggestions, or a website that might give some blueprints on making one. I am good at making things, I just don't have a plan on where to start. Thanks.

Air-tites.com sells album pages that hold 5 silver eagles in the capsules, they are the H size for the page and H40.6 for the direct fit capsules. They would work well with a shadow box under a piece of glass, just depends on the number you would like to display.

Hopefully you live in an area where you can display items of monitary purposes. In many areas such displays mean rob me, rob me. Place the coins in air tights first. Make a box of any size you think would hold all or most of your coins if placed next to each other. Drill 1/4" holes in the back board of the box spaced in such a way that 1/4" doll rods would be able to hold one of the coins by laying them on them in an angle. This is difficult to explain but if you've ever seen a typical knife display on a board where there are two rods sticking out of the board that holds up the knife. On yours the rods would be spaced about and inch apart. Two/coin with about an inch between each coin. Notch the wooden rods so the coins will not slip off. The top of the coin rests on the back of the board and the bottom of the coins sit on the little rods. Such a box could be open but a glass or plexiglass cover would stop or slow down people from touching. Meanwhile, think about how those may vanish as word spreads of you having so much money you can hang some up for everyone to see.

Hi Keith, I use A4 MDF 3mm board drill the coin size and place an overhead (laser printed) with details and finally place in a A4 photo frame. It costs about $10 total and a bit of time to set up but it looks good and dust/air proof. If you want more details just ask. regards

Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. I have been trying to decide how to display these for a while. I have had problems trying to decide how to put them up and not take away from the beauty of the coin. I mean that I could not just put them up in a box on the wall.

I know what ya mean..... My dad would make his own frame and plexiglass "picture" for coins when I was a kid, and they sure looked attractive hanging on the wall. Potential thievery keeps me from doing anything similar to what he did or what you may do sadly. But when you do decide on something........

I'm going to hit up Hobby Lobby in the morning and see what kind of shadow boxes they have. If they have any that would look good and I dont have to build the box from scratch that would help greatly.

I will send photos of my collection as long as I get feedback (good or bad) on how it looks because sometimes people like me have singular vision. I regard this forum as my peers and respect it as much. regards

Now that sounds like the type of suggestion that is being verfy helpfull and considerate. At his or my house they would be safe and you wouldn't have to worry about buiding anything. With the money you saved on that you could just pay the postage to me also. One more suggestion. Look around for one of those plastic display cases for watches, cameras, etc. The ones that are on the taller side with shelves of clear plastic. Some of these also come with lighting. Some rotate and have small lights inside. You could put little plastic posts up to hold the coins at about a 45 degree angle on the shelves. This could be placed on a table or stand in any room. You could decorate the top with a fake, large coin for appearances. Now your coins could be seen as the case rotates from all sides and if you wanted to get a little silly you could use colored bulbs if you have the cases that use these. I've seen cases like this at most flea markets used for just about everything where a seller does not want people touching but wants them to be able to see the item completely. Now is there a reward for the best idea?
