Should I resell or open up? 1891 Front and CC Reverse. I've seen these sell for 1500-1600..after ebay bucks and Amex points I netted about 975 for the roll.

They are yours now, do as you please. Don't think the seller didn't know what was in there. Could be a bunch of Ikes.

Seller told me it was okay if I cancelled the purchase with him.

99% of those rolls are assembled by the seller. Most likely at best all common coins inside.
Can you post a link?

This is a typical ebay scam item. Anyone can print anything on a paper coin wrapper and put any coins they want into it. Selling a fantasy. Open up the ones you bought, and 99% chance you will learn a valuable (or not so valuable) lesson. After all, you asked us. Don't ask a question if you are afraid of or won't accept the answer.

Think I'll resell. Saw a few others with the same end coins sell for 1500-1600.

That's up to you. If it's full of junk and you flip and buyer opens it up, you open yourself up to problems. Consider that not only are there seller scams on ebay, but also buyer scams. A buyer might open it up and claim it was all Chinese counterfeits -- not much of a defense against a claim like that.

Worst case scenario I break even. Avergae coin price for the other 18 is $42 if I get $150 for the ends. I assumed the seller asking me to cancel was a good sign.

I shouldn't have to do your research for you, but this Seller has not sold anything (at least not recently) and account has been inactive for many months. This is a red flag against a hijacked ebay account where you may never see the item purchased. So worse case scenario is you never get anything and lose your money, although if you used PayPal you may have recourse.

My research showed they have been active. 172 reviews in the last month.

Quote: My research showed they have been active. 172 reviews in the last month. My mistake then, I assumed you bought from the seller that you put the ebay link to, who is selling the same stuff. THAT seller is suspicious of a hijacked account.

There could also be 18 counterfeits in the roll you just bought and if you just resell it, whoever opens it wouldn't be lying about the roll being full of counterfeits.

Quote: Think I'll resell. Saw a few others with the same end coins sell for 1500-1600. Then you just perpetuate the problem. Return it and wash your hands of it is my advice. Do you really want to be associated with selling this kind of crap? https://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayIS...negative_365
