The obverse is shiny and it reminds me of maple syrup haha any ideas on what caused this

Maybe paint or oil? It's definitely Post Strike Damage ( PSD), not an error coin. Spendable at this point.

It almost looks like something baked onto the surface. That, or cup holder coin. Just damage.
