Found this and was trying to figure if this was a small date or not. The only issue I see is that the coin is a d not an s.
Not to sure what this date issue is really.

to CCF. The only small/large date in 1970 is on the S mint.Need better pics to help you with your coin.

Coin damage. You can see the swath of the damage on the left side of the '9'.

Coop, I would typically agree with you.
The only thing I question is the damage or scratch in there is not that bad enough to cause disfigurement to the copper. That it sits between the 1 and the 9.

I'll have to try and get a better shot.

Damage like a head on collision on the '9'. Possible coin contact. On the first set of images I could see a path of destruction on the image. (in the shadow)

Just Post Strike Damage ( PSD) on the 9 of the date. The metal is pushed in and flattened.

I've taken a few of the old coins I have and have tried to replicate it.
The small and very shallow line doesn't work following that as the cause of damage.
Trying to use tools to replicate the same type of Thing with the 9 has not been fruitful as well.

I'll try a couple more times.

How do you think this could have happened.
