All,

My son-in-law who is from South Africa but lives in the UK now really likes all of the different US dollar coins.

So far, I have got him a Susan B and Sacagawea dollars.

Does the dollar type set include one or two Ike dollars (eagle reverse and bicentennial reverse?

I guess the same would apply for the president dollars....just one or one of each president?

What do the holders from places like capital normally have?

He is not a collector.....so I think he just wants to have one of each major design change. So I know that a Morgan and Peace dollar will be needed also.

Advice please?

Depending on how far a collector wants to go the Seated Liberty, Trade, Draped bust and Flowing hair dollars could be considered. There are also the gold dollars varieties to consider.

I would include the two Ike reverse types, but only one of the Presidential dollars since it is an ongoing series.

If it is just a modern type set, I would have the following:

Jbuck's list, plus the Morgan and Peace that you wanted, But I would also add the Silver Eagle Dollar to this list.(also an ongoing series) Then you would truly have a 20th Century American Dollar coin type set !

Thanks for all of the advice. I was not aware of a new reverses on the Sacagawea dollar in 2009.

Might give him my Peace and Morgan dollars, if I source better ones in the future.

I like the idea of the 20th century type set for him.

Any suggestions as to who has good holders?

I know a few people who've just made their own "display plaque" and you might want to do this since you're only going to have 9 coins........

But a few coin supply companies are
....Dansco....Whitman....Littleton...Harris....Intercept.....Lighthouse....and US Mint series......or individual "Airtite's"...to name a few. These will have albums and all sorts of materials for you to look at.

wizardcoinsupply.com sells all of this

I looked at Capital Plastics for a Dollar Type set, but did not see anything. They have some "blank" holders for sets of one size dollar or the other (large or baby), but nothing that would accommodate both.
