Hi All,

I found this coin (not bought or given to) and did some research about it however I'm unsure how to find out whether it's real or a replica and don't live close to a coin specialist.

The words on one side:
SABINIA TRANQVILLINA AVG
On the other side:
CONCORDIA AVGG

It seems to look like the original, which I found here: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipe...II-s2539.jpg

I'm not a coin collector and new to all this so any help would be great.

Well first I lightened out your images to see the surfaces better. Since you did not show the edge you might send us a photo and the mm size and weight.

It's fake. Are you shopping around different forums for a different answer?

Apparently a rare coin so it would be a target for counterfeiting.

As others have told you elsewhere, Tranquillina imperial antoninianii are five-figure coins. Five figure coins attract individuals who can make very good replicas. I am still a little confused about what exactly "found" means. Did you dig it up out of the ground in Italy? Find it on the street? Find it in a Coinstar?

If you are absolutely convinced that it's real, send it in for certification. What's a $20 fee for a $15,000 coin?

I understand the likeliness that its's a fake.

Thanks for the advice, I will find someone to send it to for grading.

The edge of the coin is about 1mm, that's without the figures on both side which protrude a bit. The horizontal length is 22mm.

I don't have any scales at the moment.

Ispoe2;

Well you still did not say where you "found" this coin. Anyway, when you say you will "find someone to send it to for grading" the website is below.

Wait - that is the same exact coin that is on Wikipedia - isn't that proof enough that it's a fake?
