I don't have it in hand but was wondering how this would come back if graded. It might look worse in photos than it will in hand, especially at an angle.

@USSID18 - Thanks. If it weren't for the scratches, what would you grade it at, just curious.

I'm still at the Extra Fine range. It's still a good looking coin. Hairline, Ear, Crown, Oak Leaves.. !

Geeze...I've seen NGC grade very similar AU, I would have thought higher. Nice coin though, I agree. It's quite rare, only 150,000 or so minted.

This wouldn't have a chance at a straight grade, it would be scratches. I would imagine ICCS would grade this VF-30(scratched or scratches or graffiti even since it looks on purpose). Alot of the detail you need to see is blurred due to the ebay tilt so grading accurately is difficult with these pictures. NGC could easily put it at AU details but it would be very wrong. Unfortunately a problem coin is a problem coin.

Agree it's hard to tell with the tilted photo, but there appears to be enough wear to keep it from AU.
Looks like someone used it as a cutting board.

@USSID18 My comment about NGC was not directed at your prior comment, it was more of a flustered sigh...lol

@Talonbat I agree it's a problem coin. I'm also thinking the dirt in the scratches combined with the angle shot make it look worse than it really is. I figured it would come back details but considering it's hard to come buy in a decent grade and a decent price, I can ignore the scratches until I find something nicer or get tired of looking at it, then I'll just unload it. But there seems to be a consensus at VF-EF details. I guess I can live with that for now. Thanks guys.

@USSID18 I love this forum for that. Most of what I know about coins is from you guys. I've learned more in the last few years here than in all my life collecting. Have to say, I didn't have many friends who took interest in the hobby.

Me too! I turned one friend of mine to the dark side so far. Hopefully more to come.

That would be a good thread to start. "How Many of You Have Friends That Collect Coins?"
