Hi everyone, first post on the forum! I'm pretty new to coin roll hunting and looking for error coins, but I found two DDR varieties that don't seem to be listed on VarietyVista. Is it possible I've found an unattributed variety? (Disclaimer: it's very possible I just failed to identify them, since both are coins with a huge number of DDR varieties).

I think the Homestead is actually variety 020. I thought the doubling was solid all the way to the window crossbar, but I think the separation is just less defined due to wear. Still can't find a match for the WY.

Thanks, but I was just curious if they were attributed or not, not whether or not they were DDR's (which I was very certain they were). I'm pretty sure after looking more carefully that the Homestead is variety 020, but I haven't found a match for the WY. It's close to variety 001, but 001 appears to be wider.

I agree the homestead looks like DDR-020.

Wyoming DDR looks like WDDR-060: http://www.doubleddie.com/190953.html

Thank you, Tanman2001!

Can you explain to me how attribution works? The site you linked seems to list varieties that weren't on VarietyVista, and labels them differently. Is there not a standardized nomenclature?

There are multiple websites and books with different files/databases/listings of die varieties. There isn't really a standardized naming system, the three to four letter prefix refers to what website/file the variety is listed in. However, the CONECA files (varietyvista.com) seem to be the most widely recognized and used.

Varietyvista.com (CONECA James Wiles) uses DDO / DDR
Doubleddie.com (John Wexler) uses WDDO/WDDR
Coppercoins.com (Charles Daughtrey) uses 1DO/1DR
Crdievarieties.com (my site) use CRDO/CRDR
