Hello folks!
Going through Mom's collection..

A few bills she has from 1986 Canadian Five Dollar
Bird series, just a quick question on serial numbers I can't find..
They are;

HNB0743056. Signatures Knight/Dodge

HNB0743082. Signatures Knight/Dodge

GNT1747573. Signatures Thiessen/Crowe

I also have
ANT1481072. Signatures Knight/Dodge
I can find info on this one..
The other ones ellude me as of yet.

I am sure they are all worth face value, they are all mint condition,
From bank brand new to collection..

Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

As a rule, in general, for modern notes, if they're not listed, they are worth face value only, regardless of condition.
Due to inflation, your mom's notes are worth less today than when she tucked them away.
Does not mean they don't have any sentimental or nostalgic value.
You have to decide if they are worth keeping or not.

Ohh ok :)
So much to learn. It's mind boggling. Being from Canada slowly looking at her mountains of coin, silver, dimes, penny's....... and then her collection of USA stuff... dealing with multiple minters D, San Fran and Philly...l
Haven't even started there. I must admit it's fun going through the collection. Picking out coins of same date that look weird or different...
I give it to you - all the kudos it takes so much devotion, time, and crazy eye to detail.
Maybe I'm developing new skills half way through life!
And who knows ! 1936 Dot Penny don't even get me started LOL.

For these type situations would you use Charlton and pick the best of what could be... to send to PCGS for grading?

Thanks

Welcome to CCF "Jpc"
It sounds like your mother had quite the collection. Sorting through it all can be quite a time-consuming chore and perhaps a little confusing. I suggest you borrow a Charlton (from your library) & perhaps check the site recommended by "John1" If it gets to be too much, you might just connect with a local dealer and see if they can help you out. Unfortunately, many seniors (I've met) have had no idea what they were collecting (other than it was old or being discontinued) so the likelihood of a piece being rare (valuable) is pretty slim but its good you're doing your homework as who knows?
If the Thiessen/Crow GNT is in perfect UNC (never circulated/pristine condition) it might fetch around $15-$18
The HNB or ANT Knight/Dodge are newer still so book around $9-$12
These are Charlton current Book Values for Choice Uncirculated so you have to take these figures with a grain of salt (hard to say what condition the note is in & what the demand is). On ebay these days it seems like the market for common notes is pretty soft (& you have to factor in your costs to list said items).
One generally does not send a note (or coin) for Third Party Grading (TPG: PCGS, PMG or BCS) unless the note is pristine and at least a little rare (special number, change-over prefix, replacement, etc) which those aren't.
Hope that helps answer your questions & good luck sorting it out.

Thanks everyone!
Found 2 mint copper bronze red colour 1936 pennies.
I know it's all about the dot, what would 2 mint uncirc pennies actually sell for?
One has the dot, which is slightly better as in no scratches etc... the other has one scratch hardly noticeable..
The dot is above the reverse flank side above the 9 left side.. The other has no dot sadly but are the sexiest pennies I ever did see :)
Thanks again folks.

You can post photos in the Canadian Coin Grading forum for members to view and let you know their opinions. I wouldn't worry about wasting money sending stuff to third party graders yet. Try to sort through and identify what is just face value or bullion value and what may be worth a premium based on rarity/condition. Post photos and questions on these forums as members here have a ton of knowledge and like to help.
