Time to show off my awesome examples of the 1894 Twenty Cent obverse 1 and obverse 2.

The easiest marker I know is the shape of the queens forehead. In the earliest version of the coin the forehead is more rounded at the top whereas obverse 2 has a flatter less sloped curve to the forehead.

It can be hard to see the difference.

Anyone know any other markers for this variety?

How about distance of the gap between the queen's lower neck to the letter "O" of Newfoundland. On obverse 1 the gap is closer than obverse 2

Knowing nothing, I would like to see closer, properly oriented and out-of-2x2 pics of the two to compare.

Yes, the difference in the neck truncation and the "O" in Newfoundland. Much like the difference between Vicky large cent Obv 1 & 2. The #1 touches and points directly to the "O". The #2 has a large gal and it points to the gap between the "O" and the "F".

Thanks for that! I see the difference in the distance to the O.

Spruett001 - sorry pal but I'm not taking them out of the 2x2 for you. I have clearer pics that I couldn't upload to the forum. If you would like to see clearer pics just email me.
