Hi,

I got this coins with clashes on both obv./rev. I'm not sure if the marks in front of Liberty's forehead and near point of jaw and neck are just dings/scratches or ray clashes from reverse? Obvious clash under R on obv., rev. spike clash, clash by back of eagle, clash by leaves.

I can't find a VAM number for this on VAMWorld. I also posted pics on VAMWorld forum today, hopefully someone will know more about this coin than I do. Maybe there is no VAM for it. Thanks for looking. Mark

Typically single clashed Peace dollars don't get listed.

edit to add - that berry transfer on the obverse is really cool. I would think that should be worthy of a listing and if it's an existing listed VAM I'm sure there's a couple of guys on VAMworld that would be able to identify it....

You got the images in front of the right people on VAMworld and if Dr. Close doesn't recognize it as a current listed VAM I think Jody is correct, it should probably visit LVA.

Thanks for comments. I may send the coin to LVA but I wonder if he would be able to determine variety by just looking at posted pics or pics sent to him via email.

Hello,

I got the coin back from Leroy. He sent a kind note and a copy of the current guidelines for sending him coins. He highlighted with a marker the part about clashes with no letter transfer do not get listed, single spikes that are not long do not get listed. So the coin is just a VAM-2 with cool clashes. Oh well.

I don't (yet) have a VAM discovery but I mostly collect ancient coins and I have a few of my ancient coins in three books, one of them being a plate coin in the British Museum Roman Provincial Series, which is like finding a new VAM to me. Mark.
Rest in Peace

Well, I'm not surprised about the single clash rule but I thought maybe the other clash artifacts might have sent it into listing status. It was worth a try I say. Better luck on the next one....

As for the comment on VAMworld2 I'm hoping it was a misunderstanding...
