Hi, I'm looking to purchase the coin in my subject but am concerned that the coin is white with no sign of normal usage. Looking for some opinions. Thanks, Jim

It may be the lighting, not just the coin. An inquiry should help solve that question. 1799 is a common date and 30 is a easy grade to find. Eye Appeal is MORE important than grade only, especially on early issues.

If you don't like the appearance don't buy it. There are others out there.

I do like the appearance, the price is right and it's NGC certified (which can be trusted only to a certain point) but I wouldn't expect a coin of this grade to look so good. Even at a good price it's not cheap. One question I'd like considered is: Would you buy it?

Personally I would not buy it only due to the fact that it has very low eye appeal. As for your statements about NGC I believe they are an extremely reputable company

Compare with my PCGS VF-30 (no problem holder).

It may just be the pics, but this lacks eye appeal to me. So what is a "Good" price? to the CCF!

You say you wouldn't expect a coin of this grade to look so good. Why do you say that? It is important to buy what you like within reason. I hear a statement about how good a coin looks and I think it looks bad I have to ask.

Agree. We're not trying to go around you here. What's the price?

It doesn't look right, may be the pictures, lighting or that it has been cleaned.

Thanks everybody for the input. The price is $2400 OBO. I should have said clean instead of good.

It does seem rather bright. I would probably pass as well. Click this link and scroll through for an easy comparison of PCGS images.

I wouldn't buy that one but only due to how cleaned it looks to me.

OP, once you have 50 posts, you can post in the buy/sell forum. That way you may find someone on this message board to sell you one of these.
