Here is the $5 Series 1891 Treasury (or Coin) note. The signature combination of Rosecrans and Nebeker dates the printing of this example to 1891-1893.

One of my favorites is the series of 1896 Educational notes. Beautiful designs, both front and rear.

This note has been in my family for a while. I now own it. It originally came from my grandfather who has had it since at least the early 60s. We found a notebook with it dated 1962 and this note was cataloged in it. Rumor is it likely came from his father (my great grandfather).

I got to get me an Educational $5. Nice note and story Wheat. Out of all the large sized notes that I show to friends and family, this note and the Chief gets the most oohs and aahs. I sure hope I don't get yelled at for this note being a series 1901...

Love those Bisons, even if they aren't pre-1900!
Great-looking $5, Wheat - how do you grade it?

One of, if not the most prolifically printed note of all the pre-1900's large size notes. The Black Eagle. It's iconic center vignette and Lincoln and Grant portraits make it a must have for most collectors. Readily available in virtually every grade and signature combination. The series 1899 $1 Silver Certificate were printed for over 25 years. My personal advice, that I borrowed from Mr.Frog, if looking for an example for your collection, have patience, do your homework and buy it ONCE. Don't buy something to upgrade later.

Very nice Bison, educational notes, and 1891 Treasury note. The designs are phenomenal, but one thing that kind of irks me is that they are a bit cost prohibitive in mid to high grade.
