Found this metal detecting today. The house I'm detecting is a late 1940's property. I dug it up by the roots of a tree. It's Rusting, so I've ruled out silver. Any guesses on the age? I'm thinking it's modern....[ I may keep it anyways. Thanks! -CH27 Collector of U.S. Coins, Varieties, and Colonial Coinage

Right away it looked to me to have a bit of an "art deco" design so I would say it is 1930-1940 era. Probably later 1930's. Just my opinion.

Wow! Seriously? How would it not have rusted more? Did they make knives with steel in that time?

It's probably a silver or nickel plated handle.

Thanks TNG! I'm happy this could be from the 1930's-1940's. If it was silver plated then wouldn't it not rust? Thanks for the help!

I have no idea why there's not a ton of rust. Depends on the dirt, climate, and quality of plating. LOL Maybe it was once a set of 6. Cause here's the other 5 183793494221
