Beginner's Luck For A CRH Vet

I used to do a lot of roll hunting a lifetime ago. Back before my wife was even in the picture; when I was working a minimum wage job in retail and spending 2 hours of my day off to find a silver half dollar seemed like a pretty sweet deal. I had fun, but ultimately had very little to show for all those hours of work. I stopped seriously roll hunting in about 2011.

Long story short, today I found myself near my bank today during business hours, so I figured, Why not? I stopped in, asked for "anything unusual" to which the teller said she had $140 worth of half dollars. I had $50 with me, so I took give rolls. To my surprise, two of them had a total of four 40% and one 90%. I hurried home and explained to my wife that I needed to go back out and get the rest. She rolled her eyes that I was using so much time and gas for a couple bucks' worth of silver. But I went back and bought them all. None of them were from the same customer who wrapped up silver the first time, so I figured I had just wasted my time. But then I noticed that one of the rolls looked older and had someone's name written on it.

That one roll singularly trumped my entire 4-year roll hunting career:





I hurried home to show the wife. She of course said "What are those, foreign coins?"

Oh well.
