I know it is a little off-topic, but I'm hoping some of you currency collectors may be able to give me some advise. I recently pulled this from the trash heap at my grandmother's house:

Discharge-Paper-Conservation

It is the Civil War discharge papers from long passed relative. Due to some obvious water damage, I'm looking to have the document conserved. Does anyone how I might go about doing this?

G'day,
great find !
I'd approach a nearest big library or archive.
They'll have access to conservators.
I'd be surprized if they didn't give some preliminary advice for free.

This link:

is to a very long article about the subject. If you wade through it, there are a few gems near the end.

Peter - Thanks for the link! One of the organizations listed is actually less than 100 miles from my home. The organization was actually established by several major libraries in the New England area.
