I was going through my old coin supplies and found an envelope with the following bills:
$1 Silver Cert.1928,1935,1935A,1935G,1957A
$2 U.S.Note1953,1953C,1963
$5 Silver Cert.1953B
$10 National Currency-1929 Brown seal Fed Res of NY
All are circulated with no rips or tears.
Any value?

Are the red seal two dollar notes worth much more than face value? I was at the bank this afternoon and a teller gave me 31 of them. I don't collect notes. What should I be looking for?

Red, blue, yellow, and brown seals are keepers.
After you have them, then determine the relative
value. Weed out the torn and holed ones of common
series. Then ebay or keep what is left. Even if
you find the value is very little over face, you
can throw them on ebay and squeeze every bit out
of it. That's my opinion. I wish I could find this
stuff in circulation as much as I did just a few
short years ago. When they switched to the big
heads, the older stuff stood out like a sore thumb
and either got hoarded or shredded. End of an era.

I'd like to add:
Red seals on ones are excellent.
Yellow and brown seals require extra scrutiny.
They are often WW2 notes when in small denominations,
and gold notes in larger bills. Both worth a nice
premium.

Also, don't overlook green seal small heads. They
can be valuable too. It's just that in passing,
without paying much attention, the other colored
seals can be spotted a mile away. So they are easy.

I have quite a few of the older green sealed notes. Most are from the 30s. Actually got three 1930s twenty dollar bills from the ATM.

I need to figure out how to post the pictures. Will a regular digital camera work?

Flatbed scanner works best.
I have best luck with it on coins as well.
