Looking at a pair of consecutive single digit low serial notes.
One is easily 63 the other has someone's initials written on the otherwise choice note.
It's not noticeable at first glance, but it's there.
For me it was a deal breaker, I couldn't bring myself to buy them at any reasonable price.
The seller was offering quite a discount.
I'm no expert so I'm wondering how much below catalogue value should the pair sell for.

Depends on how rare the banknote is.

Personally, I would not buy that low serial number bill even with a 50% discount because low serial number bills are not that rare. On the other hand if it was a sold radar like 888888888, writing may be overlooked.

In every run of ten million notes there are 9 single digit low numbers and 9 solid radar, that's quite comparable.
There is more demand for solid radars, thus they command a higher price.
It's all a matter of personal preference, I find it interesting that you would not discount a 8888888 for writing while I do not really want a 0000001 note with writing for my collection.

I would discount the written note 50%, unless the series is 1954 or older, the seller probably only wants to sell the pair together.

It all depends on the writing
If it was an autograph I would consider
The rarity
