Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 06/18/2019 1:10 pm I search the Mint press releases and I was right. The suspended the program the first time back in 2015 because of the huge number of fakes being sent in for "redemption". The in a press release dated Jan 23, 2018 they reinstated the redemption program. Now in May of this year they have suspended it again. So far no explanation from the mint as to why the program was suspended this time. Report this Post to the Staff

Not a great article but it's a fun subject - I don't remember where/when hearing the rumor that each year more US "coinage" was being returned from China for redemption under this program than the annual mintage figure.
